Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore will become the state's next chief judge if she's confirmed by the state Senate next year. Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday nominated DiFiore, 60, to head the state Court of Appeals, the state's top court.
Cuomo had until Tuesday to name a successor for Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, who has hit the retirement age of 70. Lippman lives in Manhattan and has had a home in Rye Brook. Cuomo praised DiFiore's leadership and experience over three decades on the bench and as a prosecutor.
