There’s a house on a hill – Grymes Hill – that needs your help. And, at least in this campaign, it won’t cost you a dime. The place has a rich history. It’s situated on Howard Avenue, across from Notre Dame Academy, with a commanding view of the Lower Bay, New York Harbor, Manhattan and the majestic Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
Today we call it Casa Belvedere and it’s now one of 20 finalists in a nationwide Partners in Preservation contest sponsored by National Geographic and American Express. Partners in Preservation is spotlighting 20 sites across America rich in women's history. Staten Islanders can vote daily for Casa – up to five times each day -- through Oct. 29 to see it receive a share of $2 million in preservation funding provided by American Express.
