The Most Precious Blood Church rectory in Little Italy will return as a new luxury development. The listing for 109 Mulberry Street – the church is located on Baxter Street – first hit the market in February 2018 as a “development site” for $14 million. It took seven months to sell, but finally changed hands last September for $12.8 million.
The new owner, recorded as One Eleven Properties LLC (aka Wing Cheung), wasted no time with the follow-up. Demolition permits were filed almost immediately, yet not approved by Department of Buildings until mid-May. Then, just last week, the city approved the replacement building – a seven-story mixed-use development designed by architect Karl Fischer. The newcomer will boast 17,175 square-feet of space spread across 29 apartments, as well as 4,247 square-feet of commercial retail.
