Want to make it to 100? Pietro says eat good -- and work hard. He knows. He’s 103.

On Aug. 2, 1917, the day Pietro Mione entered the world, the average life expectancy for men was 47 years, only 14 percent of homes had bathtubs, fuel for cars was sold in drug stores, and only 8% of homes had a telephone.

Fast forward to 2020 and Pietro — the Italian name for Peter — celebrated his 103 birthday surrounded by family members, friends and staffers from Arch Care, a day care program at Carmel Richmond Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, in the backyard of his Grant City home, where his prolific fig tree is often the center of attention.
