The "Axeman of New Orleans" was a serial killer who killed his first victims on May 22, 1919. The killing spree of at least eight murders continued until October 1919, with the majority of victims being Italian American.
In most cases, the back door of a home was smashed through, and then one or more residents were attacked with an axe or a razor. Robbery was ruled out as a motive, as the psychopath never removed any valuables from his victim's homes. Many believe the killings were racially motivated.
