The Gila Valley Arts Council’s February performers, the Italian Saxophone Quartet, offered an hour-long free concert for the public at the Safford City-Graham County Public Library on Wednesday. “We decided last year, in Friends of the Library, why don’t we do some cultural literacy at the library?” said Paulette Leblanc, who serves on both the Gila Valley Arts Council and Friends of the Library boards. “So we started bringing in the artists as part of the contract.”
In addition to performing at the library and a public performance at the David M. Player Center for the Arts on Tuesday, Italian Saxophone Quartet conducted a workshop for the Pima schools band students, Mt. Graham High School and a bus-in for 500 students at the Player Center.
