The spirit of Franca Sozzani permeated throughout the main floor of 10 Corso Como in South Street Seaport last Monday. Here, in the throws of New York Fashion Week, a collection of fashion heavy-hitters came to celebrate the launch of Franca: Chaos and Creation, a new tome—published by Assouline in collaboration with her son, photographer and filmmaker Francesco Carrozzini—that features highlights from Sozanni’s 28-year career as the editor-in-chief of Italian Vogue.
Sozzani succumbed to a rare form of lung cancer in 2016—news that put a dark cloud over the industry. As one of the industry’s most powerful purveyors, she had fostered tremendous talents—from designers to stylist to photographers—and amassed a collection of personal effects that Carrozzini thought to showcase in the book.
