Lane Construction, the US subsidiary of Italian contractor Salini Impregilo, has won a $524m contract to build the Caloosahatchee West Basin Storage Reservoir in southern Florida. Working on behalf of the South Florida Water Management District, Lane aims to reduce harmful emissions into the Caloosahatchee Estuary in Hendry County.
Construction on the project includes:
- A 40 sq km reservoir that can hold 210 million cubic metres of water
- An earth-fill dam with a 26.2km perimeter
- A 4.5km long separator dam
