The inauguration of the Italian Language Program at William M. Meredith Elementary school was held this past February 24th, at the presence of the Hon. Andrea Canepari, Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia, Dr. William Hite, Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia, Councilman Mark Squilla and some of the members of the Board of “Il Convivio, the Italian Language Initiative” which funded the program: Frank Giordano, President and CEO of the Philly POPS, Gabriel Battista, Vice Chairman of the National Italian American Foundation and Salvatore Patti, Senior Vice President, PNC Bank. Kids, parents and teachers are thrilled about the initiative!
