Lupo Italian Kitchen in downtown Rehoboth Beach recently unveiled a new wine list devoted exclusively to Italian wines - a rarity not only in Delaware but in the U.S. as well. "We think this is the best all-Italian wine list in the country," said Mike Zygmonski, the sommelier for SoDel Concepts, which owns Lupo and seven other beach restaurants.
The user-friendly list, which features more than 60 wines, categorizes the wines by body - light, medium and full - rather than by varietal. There's also a map of Italy noting the regions from which the wines come. Zygmonski spent several weeks educating the Lupo staff so servers can help guests pair wine with new menu items from Chef Chris Parks, who was recently named a Delaware chef to watch.
