Tiny Warren, Indiana, population around 1,250, is the home of Golfo di Napoli Dairy, an Italian cheese-making plant with an attached cafe. The plant and cafe are actually outside Warren, and easily accessible from Interstate 69. Just take the Warren exit, 278, go east about a mile and you’re there. But you may think you’ve been transported to the Gulf of Naples, at least when you sample their cheese.

The company was founded by a father and daughter, Antonio and Giorgia Somma, originally from Naples, Italy. Giorgia lives in Chicago, and as the story goes, when Antonio came to visit he always lamented the lack of flavor in American-produced cheese. So he decided to make his own. The two searched for property and settled on 40 acres to build their 3,000 square foot plant. You won’t see any cows at the dairy.
