Danversa sweet Italian staple has come to downtown Danvers. Esposito Bakery, serving up some of the freshest and most storied pastries north of the North End in Boston, is now open at 16 Maple St. Jennifer Pema, the 19-year-old assistant manager and second daughter of the shop's owners, gleams as she talks about the bakery's history, values and the new store – the third the family has opened.
"Not much has changed from 53 years ago. The chocolate chip cookies are still huge, the bread is made the same way. You can't run away from it," she said. The original Esposito Bakery opened in downtown Revere in 1963 with the mission of providing authentic, homemade Italian baked goods and never opting for shortcuts over quality.
