The popular "Pizza Wars" event in West Haven has been postponed, due to the state of emergency declaration as Connecticut looks to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. The second "Pizza Wars" event, sponsored by the West Haven Italian American Civic Association, was set to take place March 21 at Cielo Banquet Hall on Chase Lane.
"Our first concern is the health and well-being of our members and the community," Pizza Wars Chair Silvana Apicella said. "The committee is meeting soon to go over dates." The nine participating pizzerias scheduled to participate are as follows: Mike's Apizza (winner of the People's Choice & WH's Best Pizza last year), the iconic Zuppardi's Apizza, Cappetta's, Michael Angelo's, Lorenzo's, Full Circle, ReBar, Pizza King and Casa Bianca.
