Suriano's Deli & Italian Specialties is being developed for an early summer opening at 140 Clinton St., about half a block off State Street downtown and former home to Deanna's Cafe and Taj Mahal Authentic Indian Cuisine. The owner is Ron Suriano, who owns the nearby Moisture Salon and since buying the Clinton Street building two years ago has renovated the 1,500-square-foot retail space and kitchen.
In addition to sandwiches, prepared foods and grab-and-go entrees, Surianio's Deli will have market shelves stocked with pantry staples and items from local providers, and its community kitchen will be available for hourly and daily rental for small producers or local restaurants looking for a ghost kitchen to expand into the Schenectady market with a delivery-only operation, Suriano said.
