Carmela “Milly” Lombardo walked through DeRomo’s Gourmet Market in Bonita Springs last week, pointing at pictures on the walls, memories pouring from the 89-year-old. “I have so much history in my head that I couldn’t get rid of it,” she said.
Employees caught her elbow as she walked, greeting her and her daughter, DeRomo’s pastaria chef/manager, Rosemarie Ann Lombardo-Drygala. Even though she’s not an owner, DeRomo’s was founded by Francis Cuomo, Rosemarie was instrumental in decorating and establishing the restaurant and market, which opened in 2014, incorporating pieces of her family’s history into her fresh pastas as well as the old photos that adorn the walls.
