About a week before we were set to publish our guide to Eugene’s best restaurants, I made a special trip down the valley to try a handful of places I had missed, including Pizzeria DOP, a pizza truck that hadn’t popped up in my preliminary research.
It was a beautiful late June day, and I found the Neapolitan pizza truck parked not at its usual Thursday spot at Oakshire Brewing, but in the lot next Civic, an amphora-aged winery, wine bar and culinary hub that shares a building with notable brunch spot Lion and Owl. There, owner Rocky Maselli and his team were preparing to ferry pizzas from the truck’s wood-fired oven to a room filled with international sommeliers in town for an Oregon Wine Board event.
