Negli Stati Uniti c’è la Major League e la USL Championship. In Inghilterra c’è la Premier League e la Football Championship. In Italia abbiamo la serie A e la serie B. Prendiamo in prestito le denominazioni delle categorie superiori ed inferiori di calcio perché sembrano ben adattarsi a una percezione diffusa sugli italiani d’Italia e quelli fuori d’Italia.
Cerchiamo di chiarire. Nei campionati anglosassoni se sei nella categoria inferiore sei comunque nella Championship, in Italia, invece, sei in serie B, appunto. Sei chiaramente inferiore. Sentirsi italiani di serie B è percezione diffusa e un sentimento molto sentito da chi in Italia non sta, pur essendo italiano.
