The celebrated Italian astrophysicist Margherita Hack will be honoured with a statue in Milan, to be unveiled on the centenary of her birth next year. The tribute to Hack, who died in 2013, will be Milan's first public statue dedicated to a woman. Behind the project is the Deloitte Foundation, in collaboration with Casa degli Artisti and with the support of the city administration of Milan.
Casa degli Artisti has invited a select group of Italian and international artists to submit proposals for the statue, with the winning project selected by a jury of experts this autumn. The winning artist will take up residence at Casa degli Artisti, where they will be provided with the means to create the sculpture which will then be donated to the city.
