Norwegian Air is adding another new European destination from the United States: Rome. The service will start in November with non-stop flights from both Newark Liberty and Los Angeles. Flights from Oakland will begin in February. (Scroll down to bottom for schedule details.)
Rome had been under consideration for U.S. flights for some time, Thomas Ramdahl, Norwegian’s chief commercial officer, said to USA TODAY’s Today in the Sky blog. He noted Norwegian opened a base for European flights in Rome last year, allowing the carrier “to become more known in the Italian market.” With that, “now was the right time to take Rome out as a long-haul destination."
