Perugino unveiled: a Christmas gift for all

A delicate blue rain curtain unfolds gently in front of a masterpiece, momentarily shielding it from view. This allows visitors at the exhibition a moment of isolation from the rest of the room, focusing solely on the perfection of the image before them. And there it is, Perugino’s Baptism of Christ. Eyes sparkle with surprise, much like unwrapping a gift found under the Christmas tree. The Renaissance is unveiled.

In Milan, commemorating the 500th anniversary of Pietro Vannucci‘s, better known as Perugino’s, death, the city has dedicated its traditional art event at Palazzo Marino to this great artist. A seminal work of his, the “Baptism” not only illustrates the heights of artistic expressiveness but also concludes a captivating journey focused on the painter’s complex personality and the tumultuous history of the altarpiece to which the displayed panel belonged.
