Led by Music Director Sir Antonio Pappano, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia tours to the United States this October for the first time in nearly 50 years, performing at Carnegie Hall in New York (October 20 & 21), The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Artsin Washington, D.C. (October 25), Symphony Hall in Boston (October 22), and Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre in Rochester (October 23).
In all four cities, the Orchestra performs Respighi's Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome, Verdi's Sinfonia from Aida, and Prokofiev's Third Piano Concerto, featuring Martha Argerich in New York (October 20), Boston, and Washington, D.C., and Beatrice Rana in Rochester. An additional program in New York (October 21) comprises Mahler's Sixth Symphony and The New York premiere of the Orchestra's 2015 commission from Salvatore Sciarrino, La nuova Euridice secondo Rilke, featuring soprano Barbara Hannigan. The Orchestra last performed in the U.S. at Carnegie Hall on October 8, 1969.
