Diana Taurasi

Diana Taurasi is an Italian American professional basketball player and competitor in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Born in 1982 in Chino, California, Taurasi's father was born in Italy, but raised in Argentina. He later played professional soccer in Italy, and later moved to the United States. She was a strong basketball player in high school, winning numerous MVP awards and was named WBCA All-American.

She attended the University of Connecticut (UConn) and played women's basketball there, leading the team to three consecutive NCAA championships. While at UConn, Taurasi received a number of awards, including the Naismith College Player of the Year, the Associated Press Player of the Year, and a member of the "Huskies of Honor" recognition program.
