Gregory La Cava: Italian of the Week

Italian-American Director Gregory La Cava began making animated films in the 1910s before switching over to live action films in the 1920s.

The following decade brought him critical and commercial success with the films The Half-Naked Truth, Gabriel over the White House, and What Every Woman Knows. His best known works were My Man Godfrey (1936) and Stage Door (1937). Both of these films earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director.
