The United States and Italy have a long, shared history of friendship and strong ties. Italian-Americans have played and continue to play an integral part in the United States’ success and its generous spirit. The United States values Italy’s vital role in NATO, strengthening security and defense cooperation in the Mediterranean region. Together, we collaborate closely on trade, defense, and cultural exchange. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte’s visit to the White House in July 2018 highlighted the importance we place on our friendship and strategic alliance.
