Two weeks after visiting Charlottesville, Italian forward Francesco Badocchi has decided to further his basketball career with Virginia. The 6-foot-7, 205-pounder who attends high school outside Kansas City committed to the Cavaliers late Sunday evening. Badocchi selected UVa over Illinois. The class of 2017 member is expected to redshirt the upcoming season.
Rick Zych, Badocchi's coach at Bishop Miege High School, said of Badocchi in an April 20 Daily Progress story: "He is truly a basketball player. He can score on the block, shoot you a jumper, he cuts well to the basket. I think Coach [Tony] Bennett is the one that said he can cover a one through a five with his length and the way he moves his feet.
