The Twelfth Conference of Italian Researchers in the World will be held on March 25, 2017, in the Auditorium of the Italian Consulate in Houston, Texas. 

Organized in partnership between COMITES ~ Houston, which represents the Consular District including Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma, and the Office of the Consul General of Houston, this event will include the participation of Italian researchers in the areas of Science, Technology, Medicine, and the Humanities and whose activities are linked to Italy through their nationality, by their area of study, or by their connection with public and/or private Italian organizations. 

In this year’s program, the Scientific fields will be a cornerstone of the event. Research will be presented in the areas of Experimental Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Engineering, Aerospace, and Bio- and Hi-Tech.  Keynote Speaker, Italian Astronaut Paolo Nespoli, will discuss missions to the International Space Station and Italian contributions to space exploration.  This year’s Research Conference will include a significant focus on the Humanities, including modules on Literature, Culture, Music, Media, Architecture, and Psychology.  The Conference will, as always, dedicate time for the presentation of the Literary Award, sponsored by COMITES~Houston. Students from junior high and high school will compose essays in Italian on the topic “L’ Italiano e la Creatività: Marchi e Costumi, Moda e Design”.   The Research Conference will close with analysis of the challenges faced by Italian professionals when adapting and integrating into the USA and a roundtable discussion of the Italian immigration experience.
