The President/Chair and Board of Directors of the IHCC-NY, Inc. have announced the first in a series of events for 2013: Year of Italian Culture in the United States in New York City. The theme is an initiative of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Embassy of Italy to Washington and the Office of the Consul General in NY,

On TUESDAY, March 12, the Calandra Institute of CUNY, a series of posters created by IHCC's Artistic Director John Battista De Santis will be on display. The unveiling of the posters will be part of a kick-off of many activities for the year and evidence the talents that have prevailed over the span of the 37-year history of the Committee. While the lead poster for the year 2013 is of the "David Apollo" by Michelangelo, the others hail the themes of Music and Theater; Science and Technology; Language and Literature; Art; Cinema and Photography; Italian Brand & Design; Italian Territories; Tastes and Flavors of Italy; and the Next Generation.

In announcing this event and reception, Joseph Sciame, its president/chair, indicated: "This is a sound collaboration between the Calandra Institute and the IHCC, for the posters developed by John Battista De Santis are outstanding and need to be seen by all. This event allows us to hail his work and at the same time welcome all those who will join in the year's celebrations." The Dean of the Calandra Institute, Dr. Anthony Julian Tamburri, coordinator of the exhibit, has warmly welcomed and extended the hospitality for the Opening Reception.
