On the opening day of last year's Italian Street Painting Marin, a heart attack hospitalized the founder of the popular downtown San Rafael event, and scorching temperatures knocked the featured artist out with heat stroke.
This year, founder and organizer Sue Carlomagno was all smiles as 22 artists participated in a down-sized street painting festival, working on colorful chalk images of California in the 1940s on a warm Saturday morning cooled by a gentle breeze.
