Antonio Meucci Young Inventors’ Competition

Thanks to a generous grant from Time Warner Cable and The Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, the Antonio Meucci Young Inventors' Competition was a great success on June 15, 2015, hosted at Staten Island Tech High School.

Well attended by students, families, a representative from Senator Lanza's office, Congressman Vito Fossella (as a parent) who spoke about the 2002 proclamation acknowledging Meucci's invention , esteemed judges, Dr.Thomas Petrone, Medical Physicist, Mr. Frank Cicero, Nuclear Engineer, Former Staten Island Tech Teacher and Mr.Mark Erlenwein, Principal of Staten Island Tech. Highs School, and GMM staff.


260 students, grades 3-8 from NYC private and public schools entered this competition either as individuals or in a group. All participating students received certificates from Boro President Oddo and Senator Lanza's Office.

Hosted at Staten Island Tech High School, it was the perfect forum to discuss the importance of STEM subjects, creativity and vision with the children.
Cash prizes, gift cards and GMM memberships were awarded to all of the finalists.

2nd prize Winners David Schwartzman, Joseph Continanzi, Stephen Bucaro and Nicholas Nuzzi, Ciarra Motta


3rd Prize Winners: Madison Pillarella, Julia Fratto and Jaria Rantanen, Lorenzo Colangelo, Sebastian Angelico and James Gomez, Sophia Inzerillo.
