City Board Defers Vote on Returning Little Italy Columbus Statue

It's been nearly two months since the Christopher Columbus statue outside the entrance to Little Italy was torn down and thrown into the harbor. Police say their investigation is ongoing, but they have not announced any suspects or arrests. Mayor Jack Young and Commissioner Michael Harrison promised justice.

"For those who want to destroy property and things of that nature it's not going to be tolerated and when we find out who destroyed those statue's they will be held accountable," the Mayor said during a July press conference. The statue was donated to the city by the Italian American Organizations United and since the destruction the city is considering giving it back.
