Today, we are featuring the gorgeous 1957 Fiat-Stanguellini 1200 Spider America, presented at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance in 2004, and at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2015. Detailed documents record the purchase of a Fiat 1100 TV (Turismo Veloce) by Nuccio Bertone in 1957. Bertone was an entrepreneur in Turin, and had taken over the automobile company founded by his father.
Tuned and modified by Stanguellini – a company in Modena known for its cars’ performances and design – and with new bodywork by Florentine designer Fulvio Scaglione (who added outstanding style in the back fins and convexities above the front wheels), the car was renamed “Spider America”.
