You don't have to be Italian to eat spaghetti or to attend a Feast in the North End. And you don't have to be Italian to enjoy the film The Italian Americans* coming October 19th to the Beebe Library Lecture Hall. To help celebrate October being Italian Heritage Month, the Wakefield Sons of Italy is inviting the public to attend Part 1 of this stimulating PBS film.
Although many Europeans immigrated to America to find a better life, most Italians didn't plan to stay. This film touches on one group's experiences trying to remain true to their heritage while becoming a part of their new and different country. Which influence would prevail; family or "freedom"?
