"The government amendment allowing the reinstatement of Italian citizenship for nationals who lost it before 1992 has been approved. This finally corrects one of the most significant injustices faced by Italians abroad, who have been waiting for over thirty years to reclaim their passports." This was stated by Andrea Di Giuseppe, a member of the Fratelli d'Italia party elected in the US.
"Since my election campaign, I've fought for this outcome, receiving hundreds of heartfelt letters from fellow citizens who wanted to die as Italians. For decades, many politicians have used this issue solely for electoral purposes without achieving anything, and today they are trying to hop on the bandwagon of success. They should be ashamed of this opportunism," Di Giuseppe added.
"The Meloni government immediately showed great sensitivity, supporting my proposed bill from the start, which I presented in December 2022, and now approving this amendment. I thank the legislative head Soliman and everyone at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for fully understanding and supporting the importance of this cause," concluded the Fratelli d'Italia MP.
