Kim Cooks & Caters, an intimate Italian spot that opened its doors in October, was a dream come true for Kim Leo. Over the years, the Staten Island chef found herself in the kitchens of successful restaurants around the borough -- from Dock’s Clam Bar in Richmond Valley to Sofia’s Taqueria in Rosebank.
Her food roots go back to the family business, Lenny’s Clam Bar of Staten Island, established in 1976. Now, her own business stands at 97 Lincoln Ave. “We’re a small place doing big things,” Leo said in the kitchen of her grab-and-go-style eatery Tuesday morning. “I love being in Grant City. The whole community has been so supportive.”
