Land ho! Replica of Christopher Columbus' Pinta ship docks in Louisville, with tours open

"In 1492, Columbus sailed the Ohio blue." Or something like that. A replica of the Pinta, one of Christopher Columbus' famed ships used during his 1492 transatlantic voyage, has once again docked at the Louisville Wharf. Visitors can take dockside tours of the ship starting Thursday through July 4 at at 131 W. River Road.

The replica vessel, a Spanish caravel-type model, last journeyed to the Derby City in 2018 and will set sail for a nine-day docking in Owensboro July 5. The Pinta has been moving along the Ohio River this summer, stopping in Newport as well as Indiana stops in Rising Sun, Madison and Evansville.
