Tavola offers an Italian dining experience through a local lens in Charlottesville, Va. Chefs Dylan Allwood and Michael Keaveny source ingredients from nearby farms and purveyors, listed on the menu. Dishes include house-made pasta with a Bolognese sauce of local beef and pork, and pan-roasted sea scallops with beet-leek risotto.
Wine director Priscilla Martin’s Award of Excellence–winning wine list of around 100 labels is concise but strong. The selections are mostly Italian, accented by major regions around the world and a few Virginia picks, all accompanied by helpful tasting notes.
