R.I.-born Luca Ciummo brings the trade home from Italy and works it hard in Cranston, specializing in custom pieces in a market that includes mega-yachts and commercial jobs. He’s built enough business to require a larger shop and possibly more people to work in what Ciummo calls “a great trade.”
Luca Ciummo picked up the art of upholstery in Isernia, Italy, a small city roughly between Naples and Rome. Ciummo, born in Rhode Island to an American mother and Italian father, grew up in Italy. Hanging out around his best friend’s family upholstery shop as a kid, he developed a passion for making furniture look new again.
