Star chef: new Gardens trattoria will be ‘neighborhood restaurant’ that’s ‘purely Italian’

Acclaimed chef Laurent Tourondel expects to open Scusi Trattoria in the former Vic and Angelo’s space before the end of November. He may be a world-famous chef known for a range of dining concepts, but Laurent Tourondel is thinking hyper-local when it comes to the restaurant he’s about to open in Palm Beach Gardens. His Scusi Trattoria is expected to debut in the former Vic and Angelo’s space at PGA Commons before Thanksgiving.

"What I’m looking to create, really, is a local restaurant, a neighborhood restaurant where you can go eat two or three times a week, a place with good, simple food," Tourondel recently told The Post by phone from New York. His is the founder and original chef behind the worldwide "BLT" (Bistro Laurent Tourondel) brands that include BLT Steak, BLT Prime and BLT Burger. But don’t expect Scusi to be any variety of chop house, says the French-born chef.
