On this week’s Around Town spotlight, Roxanne Strouk takes us to the renowned Italian eatery Osteria Mozza in the heart of Georgetown. Roxanne speaks with acclaimed chef and owner Nancy Silverton, who shares the story behind bringing Mozza to the nation’s capital. As part of the restaurant’s unique concept, the space also features a beautifully curated marketplace, hand-selected by Nancy herself.
The market offers a variety of Mediterranean favorites, from rich pesto and Spanish anchovies to specialty tomato sauces, many of which are featured in the restaurant’s signature dishes. Mozza is especially celebrated for its mozzarella bar, where fresh mozzarella, burrata, ricotta, and more cheeses take center stage in a series of inventive dishes. Nancy offers Roxanne a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation of a flavorful dish featuring braised leeks, made in the restaurant’s open-concept mozzarella bar.
