U.S. Consulate in Florence to remain open

Fears about the future of the U.S. Consulate in Florence have been laid to rest. On July 2 at a well-attended Independence Day celebration at Villa Taverna in Rome hosted by the U.S. Ambassador to Italy, Tilman Fertitta, and in the presence of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Ambassador announced that the Consulate General in Florence would remain open.

In his remarks, the Ambassador said, “Of course, many of these students are in Florence, where we will have a Consulate General for many years to come – because we talked to President Trump and the administration about how important it is to keep that Consulate open forever.”
