A Versace brand plans to open its third U.S. location and the first in the Midwest at Mall of America late this fall. Versace 19.69 Abbigliamento Sportivo Srl will be on the first floor of the Bloomington megamall's west side. Founded by Alessandro Versace in 2001, the Italian-made brand sells women's ready-to-wear clothing, handbags, shoes, jewelry, watches, scarves, fragrances and skin care products. Accessories start at $29; apparel ranges from $150 to $2,000.
It's exactly the sort of upscale retailer that Mall of America has been pursuing for much of the past year, though initially mall officials had intended to steer higher-end retail to its new north wing. Announced tenants for that space so far have included Anthropologie and fast-fashion retailer Zara.
