As Virginia Campbell's Piano Artist Series celebrates its 35th anniversary season, the local pianist and music enthusiast is showcasing talented fellow Oklahomans as well as fan favorites from beyond the Sooner State. One of the series' most faithful featured artists, Italian pianist Cristiana Pegoraro will launch the 2017-18 season in concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Deemed “an artist of the highest caliber” by The New York Times following her 1996 debut at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, Pegoraro will perform works by Chopin, Rossini, Piazzolla and Bizet, as well as her own compositions, Campbell said.
All concerts are set for 2:30 p.m. Sundays at All Souls Episcopal Church, 6400 N Pennsylvania Ave., where Campbell said the atmosphere is similar to a European salon. The seven-show series will continue with another venerable favorite, the Paganini Trio. California-based virtuoso violinist Joseph Gold will join forces with his wife, viola player Debbie Dare, and classical guitarist Jaume Torrent from Spain for the Oct. 15 Oklahoma City recital.
