Giordano Mozzi is one of the most decorated Italian drivers in history, the winningest competitor alive in the famous 1,000-mile “Mille Miglia” rally in his home country. Last week, he flew to New Orleans to add to his list of accolades: leading a line of more than 40 cars in the first “CentoMiglia” rally on U.S. soil on Saturday.

And he did it in style, in the oldest Ferrari in existence and the third ever built: the 1947 159S Spyder Corsa, chassis No. 002. “It’s my first time with this wonderful jewel, with the oldest Ferrari in the world,” Mozzi said as he prepared the Spyder Corsa for the start of the rally at the Lakefront Airport. “I’m Italian, so for us, Ferrari — it’s a dream.”
