Bristol Public Library's Virgie R. Fleenor Art Gallery will feature artist Gino Di Dio, of Damascus, Virginia through September and October. Di Dio specializes in oils on canvas, stone, terra cotta, slate, and murals. He captures the beauty of people in his oil portraits, cultures in the murals, and brings landscapes to life using natural materials, a written statement says.
Di Dio was born in Naples, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1978 after serving in the Italian Navy where he achieved the rank of Sotto Capo. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Assesorato Prefesionale Regionale and has acquired professional training at New York University, Westchester College, the Culture Art Center in Greensboro, Guilford College, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
