Sparta UNICO distributed hams, turkeys and canned goods to local food banks. The recipients included the Sparta Ecumenical Food Bank at the Sparta Presbyterian Church, Project Self-Sufficiency, Salvation Army at Saint Joseph's in Newton and Roxbury Social Services.

Italian American service organization distributed more than 40 hams and turkeys along with several cases of canned goods, according to Chapter President Kenneth Carafello. Sparta UNICO has been helping families at Thanksgiving and Christmas since 1998 according to Carafello. Their efforts were made a little easier by a monetary donation from the Fiorello family.
