Italian American Society Serves Up Success

People flocked to Peoria's Knights of Columbus Sunday to fill up on spaghetti dinners for a good cause.

The first Italian American Society spaghetti dinner ended with full bellies and a lot of donations.

The event is supposed to be one of the organizations biggest fundraisers.

Organizers say the hearty meal is a way to spread Italian culture along with a little love to charity.

"As generations get further and further away from immigration, some of the customs seem to get lost. It's just important to us as family to keep that heritage alive" says organizer Rob Facker.

The society hopes to raise more than three thousand dollars dollar for the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and Sisters of Charity.
