What’s called the “longest-running Italian festival in the country” returns this month. The 142nd Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival, begins Tuesday and runs through July 16. Run by the independent nonprofit Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, the festival is the nonprofit society’s biggest fundraiser, with about $15,000 generated each year for the churches that make up the parish.
It will take place on the festival grounds in the 200 block of Third Street in Hammonton. Admission is free. According to the Rev. Pete Saporito, a parish pastor, the procession of the saints on Feast Day, July 16, through the streets of Hammonton, begins 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Third St., followed by fireworks at 10 p.m. For more information, see mountcarmelsociety.org.
