The group of Italian Americans who tried to stop removal of the Christopher Columbus statue from Wooster Square Park filed a motion Friday asking where the statue is being stored and seeking assurances that the statue and the base are preserved.
The motion in Superior Court follows one filed Tuesday that sought to stop removal of the statue. The city used a crane to hoist the statue onto a flatbed truck Wednesday after hours of angry protests from both sides of the issue. At one point, fighting broke out but there were no arrests.
