Brooklyn College Archives and Special Collections seeks an archivist fluent in Italian for a part-time, temporary position to process manuscript collections. The collections are related to the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in the 1930s. The collections to be processed include both documents and photographs. The processing includes the creation of finding aids using ArchivesSpace.
The job begins May 16. Hours are 15–19 hours per week, up to 225 hours overall, with the possibility of additional hours available in the fall. Rate of pay is $25/hr. There is no overtime, and the work must be done onsite M-F, between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Required:
M.A. in Archives Administration or similar
Previous archival processing experience
Demonstrated fluency in written Italian
Demonstrated ability to read handwritten documents in Italian
Preferred:
M.A. in History
Knowledge of Italian colonial history in Ethiopia
Familiarity with ArchivesSpace and Encoded Archival Description
