Festa Italiana celebrates Ybor City’s roots

Roz Hulburt and her husband Terry paused in the shade along Ninth Avenue in Ybor City Sunday, as hundreds of people milled around them. The smoke from Terry Hulburt's cigar mingled on the breeze with a bouncing rhythm from the main stage at the 18th annual Festa Italiana weekend in Ybor City.

On the hunt for a peach bellini, a light cocktail made with peach schnaaps, Roz Hulburt, who is Sicilian, said the couple has attended each Festa Italiana festival since the event began. "There was just one year when we drove all the way down, paid $10 for parking, but couldn't go in because it was raining so hard," she said.
